Italian Gumbo a la Frescobene Sausage Ragu

A twist on a Southern favorite. This gumbo has Italian flavors so it makes sense to serve it with orzo, but rice is delicious too if you want to keep it gluten free.

Serves 4


  • 1-10 oz. pouch Frescobene Sausage Ragu

  • 1/2  lb. medium shrimp (fresh or frozen), peeled, deveined, with tails removed

  • ½ lb. orzo


1.  Bring pot of water to boil and add pouch - remove when heated through

2.  Add salt and pepper to water and add orzo and then add shrimp during last two minutes

3.  Drain orzo and shrimp, cut pouch and add sauce.  Toss and serve in bowls.

Chef’s Note: 

You can substitute cooked rice for cooked orzo and add vegetables if desired!
